Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She founded The Huffington Post and the CEO of Thrive Global. Author of more than 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author TV personality, philanthropist, and TV host as well as the owner and editor of The Huffington Post. After moving to England from Greece when she was 16, she received a MA with a major in Economics from Cambridge University. When she was 21, she became the president of the renowned debate society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. Following the graduation ceremony, she was a prominent Conservative syndicated journalist. After a few years later she created The Huffington Post which featured criticism of the present political scene. She was able to get numerous prominent contributors to post their opinions on culture and politics. Arianna gained notoriety in 2003 when she ran as an independent in the California recall elections to replace Governor Davis. Additionally, she led the Detroit Project for fuel-efficient cars. Forbes listed her as one of one of the "most influential woman" in media with her ranking at the 12th spot. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 top media personalities in 2009. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post, and she was named president of the media company. The acquisition included a number of AOL properties of the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli is the child of Konstantinos who was a journalist and management consultant. Although she was a close friend with her father, it was the relationship she shared with her mother which shaped her life. Even during her formative times, she demonstrated the qualities of a leader for which she is still well-known. When she moved to England, she was 16, to pursue her education and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years and was the third and first female to hold the position of the president. In 1972, she earned a master's degree in Economics. Following her degree she became a columnist, critic and TV host. The appearance she made in Face the music with Bernard Levin was a notable one. She started writing books with his guidance for editing.
